Buddhism in Nepal

Buddhism originated in present day Rupandehi district in Nepal around 623 BCE. The majority of the people who practices Buddhism in Nepal are the Tibet-Burman speaking ethnicities. During your hike of Champadevi, you might come across shared Buddhism and Hinduism temples where both faiths are worshipped.

Religion

The two major religions in Nepal are Hinduism and Buddhist. Though the majority of Nepal are Hindu, Buddhist influence on the culture of the country is very strong. There are some people among the Nepalese who worshipped both faiths and for that, there is a share temple constructed for them. Both faiths are highly respected and traditional among the citizen, therefore, try your utmost to respect that during your holiday.

Culture

Culture is a massive part of Nepal identity and attraction from foreigners. One of the richest and unique cultures in the world, the Nepal culture has evolved over the centuries. The Nepalese culture is express every day throughout the streets through dance, music, art and languages. The culture in Nepal has stayed strong in the modern society because of its support from their government and political leaders. Not only is the citizens and traditional people thankful for the support of the government, the culture is also seen as massive tourist attractions in a country and system that depends heavily on the benefits of tourism.

Countryside

The countryside of Nepal in the hills and mountains of the Himalayans consists of very small and close communities. Education and hospitals are hard to find near the countryside of Nepal due to its low economic worth. Even with the hospital and schools available in the countryside, it remains extremely difficult for children and family to travel because of the lack of roads.

The villages in Nepal are largely self-dependant and separated from the world. The government spends most of its money and attention on promoting the cities that they don't have time for the  villages in the countryside. As a result, the countryside villages have limited amount of shops, security and health workers. But as a consequence of this separation from entire world  practices of diverse ethnic groups, languages and cultures within the small communities have grown.

This hike will hopefully give you the opportunity to see the real Nepal away from its lights and colourful culture that is usually showcased in the promotion of the country. Take this chance to realise the difference between being poor and being in poverty.

                                                               Home Structure

Most homes in the countryside and villages of Nepal is constructed by natural resources like mud, stones, wood and sticks. As a result, of the high mountain terrain, most of the houses in the countryside are built on steep slopes.
